CARMELA
SALEMI
Carmela
was born in Rosolini (SR) in 1963.
After
her first studies as a book-keeper, she followed her artistic vocation by
attending the courses of the “Rosario Gagliardi” Academy of Fine Arts in
Siracusa.
She
obtained her degree diploma in Decorative Painting, attaining the highest grade
with honours. She participated in various collective painting exhibitions, among
which include:
1995, “Luogo Gentile”,
Contemporary Art Exhibition - Lentini (SR); 1996, “Il Senso della Materia”,
Ex Chiesa Cavalieri di Malta, Siracusa; 1997, “Avenidamurales”, travelling
exhibition by F. Carbone, Balestrate (PA); 1998, “Transiti Mediterranei”,
Qual’at Gallery, Caltanisetta; 2000, “La Sacralità delle immagini”,
Counsel hall exhibition in Bagnara Calabra; 2001, She was also selected for the
“Fabio Bertoni” 4th International Engraving Competition, Bramante hall -
Fermignano (PU); 2002, “Mediterraneo”, Montevergini, Civic Gallery of
Contemporary Art, Siracusa; 2002: “Percorsi dell’Incisione Contemporanea”,
Exhibition by Dedalo Arte - Urbino.
She
developed her engraving skills at the “KAUS” centre in Urbino and the
International Graphics School “Il Bisonte” in Florence.
She
works in the field of scenography and theatre preparation and lives and works in
Siracusa.
